Finding Real Life in a Distracted World

In today’s fast-paced, always-connected world 🌎📱, many of us are living in a strange tension—we’re alive… but not really living.

We stay busy 🏃‍♂️
We stay connected online 📲
We stay moving

And yet… something still feels off.

We can be surrounded by people 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 and still feel alone.
We can have full schedules 📅 and still feel empty.

This Easter message reminds us that the resurrection of Jesus isn’t just about eternity—it’s about experiencing real life right now. ✝️✨

What Does It Mean to Have a Rich and Satisfying Life?

Jesus said in John 10:10 (NLT):
“My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

But what does that actually mean?

“Rich” doesn’t mean everything is perfect ❌
“Satisfying” doesn’t mean life is easy ❌

It means full ✔️
It means whole ❤️
It means connected 🤝

It’s a life where:

  • Your peace isn’t controlled by your circumstances 🌊

  • Your identity isn’t built on comparison 📊

  • Your soul isn’t constantly trying to escape or numb out 😵‍💫

It’s not a distracted life…
it’s a present life 🧘‍♂️

A life where you’re not just surviving your days—
you’re actually living in them 💡

Why Do We Still Feel Empty?

If Jesus came to give us that kind of life…
why do so many of us still feel empty?

Because often—we’re looking for life in the wrong places.

We’re Looking for Life in the Wrong Places

In Luke 24:5, the angels asked a powerful question:

“Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive?”

That question wasn’t just for them—it’s for us too.

Today, it might look like:

  • Staying constantly busy 🏃‍♀️ but never feeling at peace

  • Scrolling for connection 📱 but ending up more alone

  • Chasing success 🏆 but still feeling unfulfilled

  • Looking for approval 👍 to feel valuable

We’re searching…
but sometimes we’re searching in places that can’t give life.

The Problem with Surface-Level Solutions

We often try to meet deep, soul-level needs with surface-level fixes.

It’s like being thirsty at the beach and drinking salt water 🌊🥤
It feels like it should help…
but it actually makes things worse.

The problem isn’t that we’re not searching—
it’s that we’re searching in the wrong places.

How Do We Recognize Where Real Life Is?

The Resurrection Is Personal—He Calls You by Name

In John 20:16, Jesus appears to Mary and simply says:

“Mary!”

And in that moment—everything changes ⚡

She recognizes Him.

Not because He gave a long explanation…
but because He made it personal.

And that’s how God still works today.

He sees you 👀
He knows you ❤️
And He calls you by name 🙌

Why We Miss God’s Presence

The truth is—God isn’t absent.

But sometimes… He’s unrecognized.

We live in a world full of noise 🔊:

  • Notifications 📲

  • Responsibilities 📅

  • Distractions 🎧

  • Constant input 💬

And over time, that doesn’t just distract us—it conditions us.

We start to:

  • Live on the surface 🌊

  • Move too fast ⚡

  • React instead of discern 🤔

And before we know it, we’re making decisions based on feelings instead of being led by the Holy Spirit.

Feelings are real…
but they’re not always reliable.

Mary felt like it was over 😔
But Jesus was standing right there ✨

What Does Daily Connection Look Like?

Resurrection Life Is Lived in Daily Connection

In Luke 24, two disciples walked with Jesus…
and didn’t even recognize Him.

It wasn’t in a big moment 🎉

It was at a table 🍽️
Breaking bread 🍞
Being present

That’s when their eyes were opened 👀✨

And that’s often how it works for us too.

We don’t just miss God in big moments—
we miss Him in everyday ones.

Learning to Recognize God’s Voice

You don’t recognize a voice you haven’t spent time listening to 🎧

Just like in relationships:

The more time you spend with someone,
the more familiar their voice becomes.

It’s the same with God.

When we slow down ⏳
When we spend time with Him 🙏

His voice becomes:

Clear 🔊
Familiar 🤝
Recognizable—even in the noise 🌍

Life Application

The resurrection isn’t just something we celebrate—it’s something we live ✝️🔥

1. Stop searching in the wrong places

Ask yourself:
Is this giving me life… or just distracting me?

2. Slow down enough to hear God

Turn down the noise 🔇
Be present 🙏
Start small—but be intentional

3. Choose connection over distraction

Invite God into your everyday life:

  • Your decisions 🧭

  • Your conversations 💬

  • Your quiet moments 🌅

Questions for Reflection

  • Where have I been looking for life that leaves me empty? 🤔

  • What distractions are keeping me from recognizing God? 📱

  • How can I create space for God this week? ⏳

  • What would change if I truly believed He is with me right now? ✨

Final Thought

Jesus didn’t just rise to give us hope for eternity…

He rose so we could be fully alive—right now ✨🔥

He’s still walking with you 🚶‍♂️
Still speaking 🎙️
Still calling your name ❤️

The question is—

Will we slow down long enough to recognize Him? 👀🙏
