Be The Lighthouse
Be the Lighthouse: Bringing Healing to Others
Real rest isn’t just about what God is doing in you—it’s about letting His healing flow through you to others. God doesn’t pour into us just so we can keep it for ourselves. He heals us so we can shine like lighthouses in the storms of other people’s lives.
⚓ What Does a Lighthouse Do?
A lighthouse doesn’t calm the storm—it shines through the storm, helping ships find their way to safety. That’s our role. We’re not the healer, but we can point people to the One who is.
And here’s the truth: you don’t have to be finished to be faithful.
Years ago, a young woman came to me in tears, struggling with panic attacks. My first thought was, “Lord, I can’t help her—I’m still figuring me out.” But deep in my spirit, I sensed God whisper, “You don’t have to be finished to be faithful.”
💬 The Power of Sharing Your Unpolished Story
We like to share the polished version of our testimonies—the part where everything is wrapped up neatly. But it’s often the messy middle that brings the most healing.
When I shared my raw story of battling panic attacks, this young woman told me later, “For the first time, I believed I wasn’t broken beyond repair. Your story gave me hope.”
God doesn’t wait until we’re perfect to use us. Healing flows just as powerfully through cracks as it does through polished surfaces.
🤝 Be Wise and Be Present
Not everyone will understand your story. Share it with wisdom, and trust God to guide you to the right people.
When you’ve walked through fire, you develop compassion for others in the flames. You know the pain, the weakness, the fear—and that’s what allows you to become someone’s lighthouse.
In 2017, after losing both of my parents within four months, I was drowning in grief and even wrestling with suicidal thoughts. A minister—who wasn’t even part of my organization—called me regularly just to encourage me. Every call reminded me, “I can make it.” That’s what being a lighthouse looks like: consistent presence, even in someone else’s darkest season.
🔥 You Don’t Have to Be Perfect to Shine
2 Corinthians 4:7 reminds us: “We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.”
Your cracks don’t disqualify you—they let the light shine through. You don’t need every answer. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can give someone is your in-progress testimony.
💡 You’re the Conduit, Not the Source
A lighthouse doesn’t create its own light—it stays connected to the power source. In the same way, you don’t have to be the rescuer. You just have to stay connected to Jesus, the true Source.
Peter said in Acts 3:6, “I don’t have silver or gold, but what I do have I give you.” That’s our call too—to give what we’ve received, not what we don’t have.
🌍 Positioned for Purpose
Lighthouses aren’t built in safe places—they’re built on rocky shores where storms hit hardest. That’s where they’re needed most.
God may position you in tough workplaces, complicated families, or even random checkout lines in grocery stores. Why? Because that’s where your light will be most visible.
I once prayed for a woman in a grocery store. It felt awkward, but afterward she told me it was the first time in months she felt seen. Sometimes being a lighthouse is as simple as showing up with prayer.
✅ Practical Ways to Shine Like a Lighthouse
Share your story—even if it’s messy
Use wisdom about who you share with
Offer prayer in the moment
Speak life instead of fear
Stay present when others feel alone
Follow up—don’t just check in once
📝 Life Application
This week, ask God to show you one person who needs your light. Then:
Share your story, even if it’s unfinished
Speak life, even if your voice shakes
Pray with them, even in ordinary places
Be consistent, even when it’s inconvenient
You’re not responsible for stopping the storm—you’re responsible for shining in it. ⚡
Ask yourself:
Who in my life needs me to be a lighthouse right now?
What part of my unfinished story might bring hope to someone else?
Am I staying connected to the Source so His light shines through me?
How can I follow up with someone God has placed on my heart?
You may feel ordinary. You may feel cracked. But inside you is extraordinary light—the Spirit of God. And He’s just waiting for a willing vessel. Will you shine this week? 🌟
