Prep Before The Flex
How to Get Ready for God’s Next Move ✨
Preparation isn’t just about sitting around waiting for God to drop something in your lap. It’s about getting ready—spiritually, mentally, emotionally—for the thing God already has lined up for you.
Think of it like this: biblical preparation is God equipping you privately before He reveals you publicly. It’s when He strengthens your faith before the storm, shapes your character before the promotion, and plants His Word in you before the spotlight ever hits.
Why Are You Waiting When God’s Waiting on You? ⏳
We love to say, “I’m just waiting on God.” But real talk? A lot of the time, God is actually waiting on us.
He’s already spoken direction and given purpose—you just haven’t prepped for it. Seasons don’t ask if you’re ready; they just show up. The bigger question is: when God’s opportunity knocks, will you have your shoes on or be scrambling to find them?
What Does Preparation Look Like IRL? 👟
Preparation isn’t glamorous—it’s practical. It’s not just “praying about it,” it’s positioning yourself.
If you believe God has spoken something over your life, your prep should reflect that:
If God’s called you to write ✍️, start writing—even if nobody’s reading yet.
If God’s called you to pastor, start studying, writing sermons, and developing leadership now.
If God’s called you to music 🎶, practice your craft like it matters.
If you’re praying for a spouse, ask yourself: am I becoming someone worth finding?
Faith without prep is just wishful thinking.
Why Do People Miss Their Moment? 🚪
Too many people wait for “the perfect opportunity,” and when it finally comes—they’re not ready. Others rush in unprepared and flop because they never built the character, skillset, or depth to handle it.
Look at David. Dude was anointed king as a teen but went right back to tending sheep 🐑. He fought lions and bears before Goliath, wrote worship songs in private before leading a nation in praise. His season of hidden prep wasn’t glamorous, but it was crucial.
What You Do in Private Shows Up in Public 👀
Your private prep determines your public impact. If you’re called to ministry, your power doesn’t start on stage—it starts in your prayer closet.
Same for worship leaders: it’s not just about talent. It’s about cultivating the anointing in private before trying to lead people into God’s presence in public.
Moses came down from Mt. Sinai glowing because he had been with God (Exodus 34:29). He didn’t make himself shine; God’s presence made him shine. People around you may not see your face literally glow, but they’ll notice something different—peace when the world’s falling apart, hope when everyone else feels hopeless, love when hate is trending. That’s God’s glory.
Why God Puts Us in Preparation Seasons 🌱
Preparation seasons feel slow, hidden, and sometimes frustrating. But they’re never wasted.
Joseph had a dream at 17 but spent years in pits, prisons, and slavery before leading nations. From the outside, it looked like failure. In reality, it was training.
Even Jesus took 30 years of preparation for 3 years of ministry. If the Son of God needed that, don’t think you’re skipping prep.
Fading Glory vs. Lasting Glory 🔥
2 Corinthians 3:18 says unlike Moses’ fading glow, we now carry lasting glory: “The Lord, who is the Spirit, makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into His glorious image.”
Think of it like this:
A glow stick shines bright but burns out fast. That’s fading glory.
A candle can burn indefinitely as long as it’s connected to the flame. That’s lasting glory.
Life Application: Don’t Waste Your Prep Season 🎯
You’re in a season of preparation right now—whether you realize it or not.
Ask yourself: Am I just waiting around for a “perfect moment,” or am I actually preparing for what God’s already said?
This week, try this:
Identify one thing God’s been speaking about your future.
Take one concrete action to prepare for it.
Spend intentional time in God’s presence daily—Word, prayer, worship.
Questions to reflect on:
What’s God called me to do that I’ve been procrastinating on?
What skills or character do I need to develop now?
Am I faithful with what God’s already put in my hands?
Final Word 🗣️
Preparation is not wasted—it’s the foundation for lasting impact. What God does in you now is for the sake of others later. When your prep season ends, people will be drawn to Jesus because of the work He’s already done in you.
So don’t just sit around. Prep like it matters. Because it does.
