🛑 Finding True Rest: How Jesus Teaches Us to Slow Down 🛏️✨

In a hustle-driven world, many of us are running on fumes 🏃‍♀️💨—carrying burdens we were never meant to hold. Whether it’s trauma, guilt, burnout, or just trying to keep everything together, the pressure is real. But Jesus offers a better way 🙌—one rooted in peace, not performance.

💬 What Does Jesus Say About Rest?

Matthew 11:28–29 isn’t just a chill quote—it’s an invitation:
"Come to me, all who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest…"

That’s not just sleep 😴. That’s soul-level rest—the kind that helps you breathe again, even when life is still messy.

😩 Why Do We Struggle to Rest?

Let’s be real—some of us grew up thinking rest = laziness. Others never saw rest modeled at all. And for trauma survivors, stillness can feel more like danger than peace.

Here are some lies we’ve picked up along the way:

  • "If I stop, everything will fall apart" 🫠

  • "Rest is selfish" 🚫

  • "I haven’t earned it yet" ⏳
But Jesus? He calls rest sacred. 💗

🤝 What Does “Take My Yoke” Even Mean?

Jesus isn’t asking us to do more—He’s asking us to walk with Him 🐾. A “yoke” connects two to carry something together. He’s saying:

  • “Let me carry what’s heavy”

  • “Let me set the pace”

  • “Let me teach you how to breathe again”

No hustle. No grind. Just grace.

🌱 How to Actually Rest:

  1. Call out the lie 🧠 — What did you learn about rest that’s not from God?

  2. Replace it with truth 📖 — Psalm 23, Psalm 127, Matthew 11

  3. Value yourself because you’re His 👑 — Not what you do.

  4. Rest on purpose 🗓️ — Yes, even if you have a long to-do list.

🧘‍♀️ Life Application:

Take 10 minutes this week. No phone. No noise. Just you and Jesus. Ask:

  • What fear is driving my busyness?

  • What am I scared will happen if I rest?

  • What lie about rest do I need to release?

  • Can I let Jesus lead…instead of pushing myself?

You don’t earn rest. You receive it.
🛑 So slow down. Let Him carry it. Breathe.
Rest isn’t selfish. It’s sacred. 🌿
